“Tastes like strawberries, on a summer evening…”
Wait! I should probably get back on track, right?
Well, if you knew where I was headed, you must be a Harry Styles fan! Many of us feel alive and find comfort in the words of others through their music. Musicians have the power to make us feel connected with each other but also with different parts of ourselves. Harry Styles is one of those musicians! Not only is he a great storyteller through his lyrics, but he can also spark joy that may sometimes be hard to find within ourselves and our lives. Harry Styles isn’t just a cutie (which I bet you may be agreeing with me right about now, wink wink), but like many other singers, he’s good for our mental health in various ways!
His Motto
One thing about Harry: He has a great motto! He often says, “Treat others with kindness.” This is a universally inclusive statement that we can all put to good use. Your kindness to someone else may be a turning point in that person’s life. The kindness someone else shows you may be the moment your life changes too. When it comes to being kind, there’s not one way of doing it, but the outcome can be significant. When you give or receive any level of kindness, you can feel valued, cared for, loved, and all the warm and fuzzy things! Having an icon like Harry Styles convey this message and encourage others to be kind & inclusive means that we can hope more people will follow in his footsteps and show kindness toward each other!
He’s an Ally
(And a proud one, too!) Harry demonstrates his beliefs and views of the world in different ways! He is undoubtedly a proud supporter of those in the LGBTQIA+ community and has shown advocacy to ensure freedom of expression and comfort in one’s skin. We live in a world where, despite ongoing changes, the LGBTQIA+ community still experiences levels of repression. Harry Styles incorporating a funky wardrobe and painting his nails is his way of demonstrating that these things do not necessarily need to align with a particular gender. As a person, he makes it okay to be you simply, and being you is crucial to living a happy and meaningful life.
He’s Good Looking
Now… I’ve been waiting for this! Taylor Swift obviously wrote “London Boy” about our favorite London boy (aka, Harry!) She said, “I saw the dimples first, and then I heard the accent”…I must say, give credit when credit is due because she was spot on with that one. I speak for many when I say if there’s a chance you are low on dopamine, Harry may just be the solution! I’m not talking about Harry Potter or Prince Harry; I’m talking about Harry freaking Styles! Between the hair, the smile, the dimples, the green eyes, and the tattoos, I don’t see how it can get better than that!
He’s Upbeat and Funny
We all love a guy who can make us laugh. Lucky for us, he does that! Harry constantly displays high levels of energy and humor. Whether it’s during interviews, videos, and especially at his concerts, his energy transfers onto those watching. During the process of therapy, one of the things we therapists constantly talk about is finding things that make you happy! Watching or listening to people who make you laugh or smile increases your mood and overall happiness. This can help you cope with some of the stressful events in your life.
He Connects With His Fans
By connecting with his fans, Harry remains genuine & authentic. If your favorite singer can do it, so can you! When you’re honest, you can connect with others, foster relationships that make you feel valued. Despite being extremely well-known worldwide, he shows us that you can be famous, change many people’s lives, and still be…well…Harry!
